Mine does.

For example, 23 years ago when we first married, he hung a black velvet painting of Jimi Hendrix in our living room. We also argued a lot over him pushing every piece of furniture against the walls. Whenever a family member would bring back gaudy souvenirs from their travels, he would display them, or worse hang them, in the living room (his mother brought back yellow canvas gloves for gold prospecting from Alaska and he hung them over the door between the kitchen and garage). My brother gave my husband two gag gifts that were decoration in our living room for months: life size cutouts of John Wayne and Jeff Gordon. Over the years, my husband’s decorating style has been relegated to the garage, and now it looks more like a dorm room or teenage hangout with posters, bulletin boards with movie stubs, concert stubs, campaign buttons, etc., and framed art that simply isn’t "family friendly".

Now, granted, some of my decorating style annoys my husband. He dislikes the theme of our home decor: country Italian. And no way can I keep a throw pillow anywhere in the house for it simply "disappears". And I am always hiding the matches he likes to leave in the bathroom, for …. you know.

So, does your spouse have a decorating style that annoys you, or am I the only one? Just wondering.

He has no decorating style. He knows it. Thus, I handle all such things.

I just let my wife have free range of the house; the garage is my domain.

Actually, my husband is the one that hangs stuff on the walls. I would just leave them plain if it was left up to me pretty much.

Thank you for letting me know that I’m not the only one who can’t stand the things my husband wants to display in our home. I hate the cowboy, indian, statues, pictures, etc. that he wants to have out. I hate his cigarette lighter collection he wants to display in our bedroom. I hate the fact that he wants to keep a sheet thrown over his chair in the living room. Oh, and the velvet pictures of the cactus and southwestern pottery? It’s hidden in the closet, finally.

My husband is a big deer hunter and likes to trophy hunt. Years ago he bagged an enormous buck and he had it mounted. Of course it hangs right by the television and "freddy" is always looking at me. My husband makes the comment that when he gets one bigger than freddy he will also get it mounted. I am like forget it that I think that that is gruesome and won’t have that going on in my living room or any other place in the house. I decorate my living room in a cabin theme with lots of wildlife stuff and it doesn’t look so bad.

My man has no sense of decoration at all. I am so glad someone asked this because I have a different theme in every room. My kitchen is like a yellow, blue, green and white… whatever flower that matches bright theme. The dining room joins and that is where the computer desk is, and it is more so the same but the colors are more blues and purples. The living room is next and it is done in an asian theme with budhas and cheery wood accents everywhere. The bathroom is purple flowers. My little girls, well is girly with Dora, etc. My boys room is green with turtles/frogs… rainforest theme. Our bedroom is dark with browns, blacks, silvers, bronzes all in one. He just finds random things that are cute in his opinion and wants to put it somewhere. Not to mention it goes with nothing in the house. If they purchase something like that I feel like the garage or maybe a shed is a good place to keep things so he wont feel so left out. But we would have a fight before he hung something ridiculos up on the wall. If we had an extra bedroom he could decorate that and it could be his little game spot with a pool table, excluded from the rest of the house. I find things I like then ask what you think… of course he always says yes or I just get it and talk him into it on the way home. By asking I feel like he was not left out of the loop of decorating the house and of course I direct him in which way to hang things or where to put the heavy stuff, lol. So I think it is just a male thing, the ones that are not trained decoraters anyways. lol

No when i was married my husband wanted pictures of girls from playboy’ and that was a no no for me.Finally we both agreed to just have a couple of pictures of the outdoors. What he is doing seems a bit tacky and does not belong in anyone’s house’ unless they are a single man.Have him decorate the garage where no one will have to view ..

You’re not the only one. My hubby loves hanging his Chicago Bears and Chicago Cub crap all over the house. He also loves every room of the house to be painted red (his favorite color),his black leather couches and cheap glass on wrought iron tables. GRRRR, it’s so irritating!
